We are looking for a graduate level mechanical engineering intern to work at our Norwood research facility during the summer of 2026. This opportunity will provide educational and research value to the student through various activities in the lab.
Responsibilities:
The assignment is 3 months. Will be closely working with and under the guidance of the project leads. The intern will:
- Help set up, operate, and trouble-shoot the testing equipment including mechanical, electrical, control, and instrumentation components and systems
- Specifically, you will be working on an existing Test bed based on FESTO equipment including Cobotics, and AMRs
- Design experiments to run on the test bed(s) and execute them, reporting on findings.
- Assist in other technical documentation and presentations.
- Effectively interface with project leads, senior members of research staff, and collaborators.
Qualifications:- The candidate should be a well-qualified graduate level student working towards a college degree in the field of mechanical engineering.
- Intellectual curiosity and capability in conducting literature research and intelligence/data gathering on emerging technologies.
- Hands-on experience in operating and trouble-shooting mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Strong ability to quickly learn new technical knowledge, experimental techniques, and analytical methods following the lead of senior scientists.
- Solid foundation in mechanical engineering basics including mechanics, engineering materials, design and manufacturing, and thermal science, etc.
- Strong ability in using Microsoft Office suites for data processing, documentation, and presentation.
- Accountability and project management skills to complete tasks on time and meeting expectation.
- Strong verbal and writing skills in communication.
- Strong self-driven nature and effective work under supervision and guidance.
- Strength in attention to details, problem-solving, and result delivery.
