Description
SUMMARYAs a Summer Engineer Intern, you will support manufacturing engineering activities that impact our production operations. This role provides hands-on exposure to real-world manufacturing engineering work, including process improvement initiatives, documentation updates, data analysis, and support of Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and master data tasks.
Working closely with experienced engineers and production teams, you will gain practical experience in manufacturing processes, lean principles, and continuous improvement efforts. This internship is designed to build foundational engineering skills, expand technical knowledge, and provide insight into potential long-term career paths within manufacturing, operations, or research and development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support Manufacturing Engineers with daily engineering tasks and projects
• Assist in developing and documenting repeatable production processes and work instructions
• Observe and analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement
• Support implementation of process improvements focused on safety, quality, cost, and delivery
• Assist with Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and documentation updates
• Review drawings, schematics, and sample parts to understand manufacturing requirements
• Participate in project research and implementation (capital and non-capital)
• Collect and analyze production data to support decision-making
• Assist with New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and engineering changes
• Provide general technical support to Production as directed by the engineering team
• Maintain and update master data (materials, routings, bills of material) under supervision
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Currently pursuing a 2- or 4-year degree in Engineering or a related technical field
• Strong interest in manufacturing and engineering principles
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency with personal computers and MS Office; exposure to CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
• Willingness to learn and apply Lean Manufacturing concepts

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of the role. This position involves extended periods of sitting and computer work, with frequent reaching, bending, and writing. Occasional exposure to a manufacturing environment, including noise, chemicals, and/or fumes, may occur. The ability to stand and walk frequently and occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs. is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Inside; office environment with periodic exposure to the manufacturing floor.
PAY: $25.02 Per hour
MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND WORK AIDS
Exposure to manufacturing equipment, inspection tools, engineering documentation systems, and standard office software.
